National Trust support their Heritage Lottery Fund bid with touchscreen data
Timings were tight when the National Trust asked datacpr to develop a touchscreen solution to support their Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) bid. Within just three weeks the datacpr team set up a fully branded touchscreen kiosk to run a user friendly questionnaire designed to collate visitor feedback and identify different visitor groups.
HLF bids are an important aspect of fundraising for the conservation charity but the process can be lengthy and time intensive. Visitor feedback is integral in supporting the National Trust when bidding for extra funds and a variety of methods were used to support the Quarry Bank at Styal ‘Revolution and Revelation’ project which focuses on Styal Village and other areas of the estate.
datacpr worked closely with the Visitor Experience (VE) team to develop a short questionnaire that would support the HLF bid and also provide important insights into the overall visitor experience at the National Trust site.
The software is highly adaptable and within two days the VE team could assess what was working and change anything that wasn’t with immediate effect. Quarry Bank at Styal could test different messages and calls-to-action without the need for costly redevelopment.
When asked to sum up how the project went, Richard Landy, the founder of datacpr, said:
‘The key to the success of this project was flexibility. We had little time to test different mechanisms and had to adapt different aspects of the solution on-the-go. We also chose hardware that was unrestrictive and easy to relocate so that we could move the touchscreen as and when required.
I think the Quarry Bank at Styal project demonstrated just how adaptable datacpr can be regardless of time and environmental constraints. ’
