Touchscreens create a buzz at MMU Open Day

The Recruitment & Admissions (R&A) team at MMU are constantly looking for new ways to engage with their technology-savvy student audiences in what is a highly competitive market.  Creating an engaging and memorable university experience is a constant challenge for open day organisers.

Up against time, datacpr developed a touchscreen application within weeks which allowed students to register for the open day and specify their top three subjects.  An automatic email was then generated to their smartphone outlining a personalised programme of events.  The touchscreens also visually depicted life at the city university campus giving both students and parents an insight into the MMU culture.

One of the main aims was to enhance the student experience making the registration process slick and engaging as well as reducing traffic build-up at key areas such as reception.  Staff found they spent less time managing crowds and more time engaging with students and providing a truly immersive experience.

The datacpr team were on hand at the event and Richard Landy from datacpr commented:

‘There was a real buzz on the day with staff and students getting really excited about using the touchscreens. We could get in-the-moment feedback from students on their experience of the day and the R&A team could access reports instantly to monitor satisfaction levels.

It was clear that touchscreen kiosks offer multiple-applications to the educational sector – informational; appointment setting; confidential and discreet communications; and feedback mechanisms – the options are endless.’
